Gail Schmidt is the Fiscal & Administrative Officer for North Dakota Council on the Arts, a role she began in March 2025. With over three decades of accounting experience, Gail manages all financial aspects of the agency, ensuring compliance, accurate record-keeping, and effective budget oversight. She also leads grant-related financial reporting, supporting the agency's mission through sound fiscal stewardship. Prior to joining NDCA, she held a variety of leadership and accounting roles in state government, higher education, healthcare, and the private sector. Gail earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the University of North Dakota. She lives in rural Morton County, North Dakota, with her husband and their beloved furry, four-legged friends.
