Bismarck, ND—North Dakota Council on the Arts has been approved for a $790,700 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) FY 2021 partnership agreement to address priorities identified at the State level. These funds will support the arts in areas such as cultural tourism, community revitalization, economic development, education, and health and human services

“As the country and the arts sector begin to work towards a post-pandemic world, the National Endowment for the Arts is proud to fund the work of our partners,” said NEA Acting Chairman Ann Eilers. “These agreements such as the one to North Dakota Council on the Arts leverage federal funds for regional, state, and local impact, reinforcing the network of support that is vital for a healthy arts ecosystem.“

Revised during NDCA’s 2019 strategic planning process, the mission of the Council is to strengthen the creative capacity of North Dakota for all who live or visit here: honoring our cultural traditions, empowering excellence and innovation, inspiring arts and culture opportunities for all.

NDCA grants federal and state appropriated funds to North Dakota communities, schools, individuals, and organizations. NDCA also convenes, educates, and partners with individuals across the state to seed new ideas and activity, and build resilient capacity for the long-term. Bringing these pieces together, the Agency is pursuing a North Dakota in which all can experience arts and culture; all can participate; all are welcome; and arts and culture thrive.

The NEA partnership award, along with the state appropriation, will support grants and programs for this coming fiscal year (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022).
