In this vital position, you will provide administrative support to the Animal Health Division and the Department, making a meaningful difference for North Dakota's livestock producers and veterinarians. If you're committed to supporting the health and well-being of animals, this is the perfect opportunity for you.Key responsibilities include:Provide comprehensive administrative support for modified live vaccine and livestock medicine programs.Oversee Cervid programs, including the issuance of status certificates.Accurately enter and manage data related to veterinary inspections, regulatory documents, and test results.Process and issue import permits for animal movement in compliance with regulatory standards.Manage licensing and inventory reconciliation for Non-traditional Livestock (NTL) programs.Issue permits for the possession and propagation of protected wildlife while ensuring regulatory adherence.Deliver outstanding administrative and clerical support, including managing client interactions, phone inquiries, and general office functions.Draft, proofread, and prepare various documents, including reports, educational materials, and forms.Assist with the planning and coordination of division meetings and training sessions.Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence and prepare precise meeting minutes.Occasionally assist veterinarians and livestock investigators with fieldwork tasks.Travel within the state as necessary, with occasional overnight and weekend travel required.This position reports directly to the State Veterinarian and collaborates closely with the Commissioner and the Animal Health Division. Due to the need for significant on-site presence, the position is located in Bismarck at the State Capitol building. Minimum Qualifications:Associate degree in Business Administration, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field, with a minimum of one year of professional experience in an administrative or clerical capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills and abilities.Dependable, organized, self-motivated, and adaptable.Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.Valid Class D driver's license for occasional travel.Preferred Qualifications:Strong decision-making, multitasking, and problem-solving skills are key to success in this position.Prior experience in a veterinary office is preferred, though candidates eager to learn and develop in this field are encouraged to apply.Solid experience in data entry, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.Familiarity with office procedures, including report preparation, spreadsheet management, filing, and handling certified or return-receipt mail.
