Career Description




CADD Editing duties consist of producing standardized CADD layouts of preliminary survey data, gathering relevant data and resources from various sources including field technicians, consultants, and utility companies, and creating digital terrain models. The role requires adherence to NDDOT CADD standards in plan production, performing quality control checks for accuracy and consistency and maintaining daily documentation files on production events.LiDAR and Photogrammetric responsibilities include developing and utilizing techniques to process LiDAR point cloud data, creating, and implementing classification techniques for multiple sources of LiDAR, and generating preliminary survey topography graphics and surface generation. The role includes collecting preliminary survey data from aerial imagery using a stereo soft-copy workstation and performing various photogrammetric operations such as stereo compilation, image creation and manipulation, analytical triangulation, and ortho-rectified mosaic production. Stereo vision acuity is a requirement for this responsibility. UAS operations involve implementing mission planning to ensure project scope is met efficiently, utilizing UAVs and sensor payloads to collect field data for preliminary surveys, and processing GNSS and IMU data to create accurate trajectories. The role also includes post-processing raw data to produce quality LiDAR point cloud files, as well as creating and maintaining related documents and manuals.This role involves continuous training to develop and refine accuracy and efficiency while maintaining documentation that outlines the procedures for creating preliminary survey production files for NDDOT projects.

Minimum Qualifications

The individual in this position will perform data collection operations in support of the agency water resource management functions. The Engineering Technician performs a wide variety of duties associated with collecting water samples from various observation wells throughout the state of North Dakota. This position reports to the lead environmental technician.

Duties and Tasks

Extensive weekly travel throughout North Dakota requiring overnight hotel stays. Obtain, document, and submit water samples to the ND Department of Environmental Quality for analysis.Maintain, service, and restock supplies and equipment related to the collection of water samples.Enter field and lab related water chemistry results into the database. Scan all related documents into their respective location.Perform maintenance duties at observation wells such as general clean up, mowing, concrete pad repair or installation.Provide assistance to other technicians with water level measurements, ("well runs") throughout the field season, and assist with other duties as needed.Perform maintenance and service on all equipment related to the job duties including, but not limited to, vehicles, trailers, small engines, water pumps, and electric water level tapes.Mapping well locations that need to be sampled for the upcoming field season, along with navigation of maps based on the Public Land Survey System using townships, ranges, sections, and quarters.Inspect, correct, scan, and enter documents into the database that are being converted from paper files to electronic files. Work with other entities to schedule water sampling for rural water districts.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires successful completion of high school or GED and 4 years or more of relevant experience.
