This position will provide well rounded experience in the different areas of Bridge Division. These areas include preliminary engineering, hydraulic design (roadway and structural), bridge design, and structure management. You will gain experience completing scoping and environmental documents for upcoming bridge projects. You will also assist in determining the appropriate size of a bridge based on hydraulic requirements. This position will also offer real world experience in bridge design and load rating design. You will be exposed to the NDDOT Bridge Inspection program and assist with QC/QA of inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be enrolled in an engineering technology or civil/construction engineering undergraduate degree program.* Preference will be given to those enrolled in a civil technology or engineering degree program.* Requires ability to lift and carry a total weight of up to 50 pounds.* Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License for travel within the state of North Dakota.Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process, successful completion of a job function screening and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.

Geotechnical Drill Crew Intern - This internship will provide quality experience with highway materials testing, geotechnical exploration, and field data collection. This internship will provide field experience in geotechnical engineering and exploration. This is a field position that will require out of town travel and overnights. Safety and personal protective equipment along with travel expense reimbursement will be covered by the agency. As an Equipment Operator, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. This includes operating heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties like basic snow and ice control/removal. You will complete highway maintenance duties, which include assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails. To complete these tasks and others assigned, you will operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties. Part of this job is to keep the roadways clear of any hazards, this includes litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses.You will complete building and ground maintenance duties, and general routine maintenance of the roadway and radio system equipment. You will also perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Minimum Qualifications

To be considered as an Equipment Operator II, you must have a valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) by the first day of work. CADD Editing duties consist of producing standardized CADD layouts of preliminary survey data, gathering relevant data and resources from various sources including field technicians, consultants, and utility companies, and creating digital terrain models. The role requires adherence to NDDOT CADD standards in plan production, performing quality control checks for accuracy and consistency and maintaining daily documentation files on production events.LiDAR and Photogrammetric responsibilities include developing and utilizing techniques to process LiDAR point cloud data, creating, and implementing classification techniques for multiple sources of LiDAR, and generating preliminary survey topography graphics and surface generation. The role includes collecting preliminary survey data from aerial imagery using a stereo soft-copy workstation and performing various photogrammetric operations such as stereo compilation, image creation and manipulation, analytical triangulation, and ortho-rectified mosaic production. Stereo vision acuity is a requirement for this responsibility. UAS operations involve implementing mission planning to ensure project scope is met efficiently, utilizing UAVs and sensor payloads to collect field data for preliminary surveys, and processing GNSS and IMU data to create accurate trajectories. The role also includes post-processing raw data to produce quality LiDAR point cloud files, as well as creating and maintaining related documents and manuals.This role involves continuous training to develop and refine accuracy and efficiency while maintaining documentation that outlines the procedures for creating preliminary survey production files for NDDOT projects.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for an Engineering Technician IV, you must have at least six years of work experience related to the engineering technician duties listed. College-level course work and/or degree in an engineering or related field reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. To be considered for an Engineering Technician III, you must have at least four years of work experience related to the engineering technician duties listed. As a Transportation Engineer Manager Team Lead you will Provide engineering oversite on all construction projects in the Bismarck District and keep the ADE & DE informed of progress on all projects. Oversee all plan development within the District.Primary Duties Include:Employee Supervision: Supervise Engineering Technicians, Transportation Engineers, Project Managers, and maintenance employees or temporary employees performing inspection duties, materials testing and surveying to ensure construction projects completed in accordance with contract requirements. Schedule work assignments that offer diversity of work to provide and maintain interest and enthusiasm for work environment. Conduct safety meetings to ensure awareness of working conditions such as working within heavy traffic areas and around heavy motorized construction equipment and taking proper precautions to maintain a safe working environment. Provide proper training for personnel on departmental policies, inspection and materials testing procedures. Supervise employees who are preparing and developing district plans and concept reports. Complete Employee Appraisals. Document employee performance throughout the year meeting with the employee a minimum of once every three months. Review the positive and negative aspects of an employee's performance and their progress towards meeting their goals. Schedule work activities for construction staff during winter months.Bismarck / Mandan City Contact: Be the primary contact for the Bismarck, Mandan areas. MPO/TAC representative for the District. Project management of DOT projects within the Bismarck/Mandan cities as well as project oversight of LPA projects. Supervise the signing, traffic signals and street lighting within the cities on state roadways. Work with landowners, utility companies, developers, within the Bismarck Mandan area on permits. May include driveway permits, utility permits, agreements to work in right of way, or others. Review the permitted work in the field for compliance and close out when completed. Maintain district files and records. Conduct Transit facility inspections.Construction Project Reviews: Conduct field and documentation reviews of State and County projects run by DOT, consultant, or county staff. In the field review items such as traffic control, construction methods, sampling and testing, and compliance with plans and specs. Records reviews include materials certifications, PQEs, sampling and testing frequency, pay estimates, labor compliance, and other items. Conduct in depth CERT reviews of at least 10% of the district projects per year. Review staffing, SWPPP and environmental permits, CARS documentation and consultant estimates.Construction Design and Finals: Review project finals, review PSE plans, and complete district designs and environmental documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering,Four years of professional-level engineering work experience,Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of ND within 6 months of start date.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.

This internship will provide quality experience with reading and understanding NDDOT plans and specifications while working on construction projects. Applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in materials testing, construction surveying, and construction inspection while ensuring projects are built according to the plans and specifications.This experience will provide you with real life experience working on active civil construction projects. You will be part of a great project team and will learn valuable technical skills as well as how to communicate and work effectively as a team.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be enrolled in an engineering technology or any engineering undergraduate or graduate degree program.* Preference will be given to those enrolled in a civil technology degree program.* Requires ability to lift and carry a total weight of up to 50 pounds.* Possession of a valid Class D Driver License for travel within the state of North Dakota.Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process, successful completion of a job function test and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
